The Foster Closet exists to encourage, love, and support foster families in our community by providing clothing and basic essentials to children of all ages in foster, adoptive, and kinship placements.

HOW IT WORKS: We accept donations of diapers, wipes, newborn to adult size clothing (free from rips or stains), shoes in good condition, new socks/underwear, baby equipment/gear, toys, books, bedding, backpacks/school supplies, and toiletries. After we sort through these items, we simply open our doors to foster children and families in need of those donations. We never charge for anything.

HOW TO RECEIVE ITEMS: If you are in any way involved in the foster care system and would like to receive items, we would love to help you! You are welcome to anything in Foster Closet at no charge; all we ask is that you’ll use the items. Currently, the foster closet is open by appointment only. If you would like to schedule an appointment please contact our lead volunteer, April, at (574) 400-3280. Please note, the foster closet is ran entirely by volunteers. If your call is not answered, please leave a message.

HOW TO DONATE ITEMS: We have large weather proof boxes outside of our foster closet building that are always open for donations. The foster closet is housed in a separate building from our main church building. Once you pull into the church parking lot, drive towards the back and you will see the foster closet. The church’s address is 21567 Ireland Rd. South Bend, IN. 46614. Please note, that because of the generosity of our community, it is possible that these boxes will be full when you come to donate items. If that is the case, we ask that you do not leave items outside of the these boxes, as the items may get damaged. If the boxes are full, we ask that you hold onto the items and donate them later, or donate to one of the other wonderful organizations in our community that accept these types of donations.

HOW TO GIVE FINANCIALLY: The Foster Closet does purchase several items brand new, such as undergarments, hygiene products, and diapers. If you would like to help the foster closet purchase these items by giving financially, simply go to the “give online” portion of this website. After you make your donation, simply write us an email at hillsidesboffice@gmail.com to let us know that you would like your donation to do go towards the foster closet.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER : The Foster Closet continually receives a generous amount of donations from our community, so we are always in need of more volunteers! If you would like to volunteer, please contact our lead volunteer, April Rollf, at (574) 400-3280.
